Can I still get my car serviced with the COVID – 19 Restrictions?
The answer is YES.
With the nation being instructed to stay at home during the coronavirus outbreak; The Motor Traders’ Association of NSW have announced smash and vehicle repairs and car dealerships, will remain open.
Express Lube is classified as an essential service as we need to carry out necessary repairs or services to vehicles during this time. With most people needing to stay at home with your only outings for groceries, medical provisions and exercise. There are still a lot of people that are required to help keep the country going. These people rely on their car to get to and from work. For some, they may even use their vehicle for their job. It’s important, that their car is in top working order.
The Public Health Order issued for NSW (COVID – 19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order 2020 states that people “must not, without reasonable excuse, leave a persons’ place of residence”.
While our politicians say the government guidance is simple, it is still hard to know all the new rules and restrictions as they are continually being updated. Enquiries made by the Motor Traders’ Association of NSW with the New South Wales Ministry of Health has clarified that customers attending business like Express Lube fall within the exception of leaving your home as outlined in Schedule 1 which permits travelling for the purpose of:
“obtaining food or other goods or services for the personal needs of the household or other household purposes (including for pets) and for vulnerable persons.”
Our politicians have a tough job, but their number one priority is to keep Australians safe and healthy.
